Alexandra Taveras
Born on St. Valentine’s Day in the Bronx, New York. Her parents are from the Dominican Republic.

Ever since she was a little girl, Alex excelled in music. She graduated with honors from the High School of Music and Art in New York City. This led to a scholarship to one of the most prestigious schools in the world, the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where she received a bachelor of Music specializing in vocal performance.

Soon after graduating Alex came back home and became a member of “The New York Band”. She proved her talent to the many who listened to her sing. Not only is she a beautiful and gifted entertainer, she immediately captivated audiences with her charismatic personality. While with the New York Band, Alex recorded on three LP’s, which featured the hit songs “Mejor Me Mato” (Salsa), “Que Piensas Tu Que Soy” (Merengue) and a Salsa version of the American hit song, “Always”. These songs became number one hits in Latin American markets around the world.

The New York Band quickly became the #1 Latin Band. This recognition caught the attention of the legendary recording artist Tito Nieves. Tito and Alex collaborated on the Salsa version duet “How do you Keep the Music Playing” which charted to the #1 spot on the Salsa charts. Alex sang in Tito’s band for several years.

Alexandra has recorded background vocals for many renowned artists but the one she will never forget is her collaboration on Tito Puente’s “Mambo of the Times” album on which she sang the title track along with Tito Allen.

After taking some time off from the music scene in order to devote her attention to her daughter, Alex is trying to get back on track. She recently recorded background vocals on Marc Anthony’s latest CD “Libre”.

Alex is a very sensitive, heartwarming and diligent performer who continues to work very hard to achieve her life long dream of becoming a successful recording artist.
