Born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, Nelson González immigrates to New York at the age of 12 and his love for Afro-Caribbean music is born.  At this tender age his interest in the Tres commences.  Today, he is regarded by Israel "Cachao" Lopez as the ambassador of the Tres.

He comes on to the scene in 1971 with the Justo Betancourt Band later with Orq. Harlow and, after meeting and forming a friendship with Ismael Miranda, the Orq. Revelacion.  Nelson has been part of Charanga Tipica, Grupo Folklorico Experimental Nuevayorquino, Tipica '73 and Los Kimbos with Adalberto Santiago.  He has toured with the likes of Eddie Palmieri, Cachao and the Conga Kings.  In recent years Nelson has participated with Gloria Estefan, Danny Rivera and the late Tito Puente.  He also formed part of the string ensemble of The Capeman and, of course, was a member of Marc Anthony's touring band.  To date, the career of this incredible artist spans 25 years.
